Two-part workshop for postpartum women

Empower yourself with awareness and information to begin retraining and building functional strength in your core. Get to know this new body with compassion, and learn where to start and how to progress in building strength to support all movement - in a yoga class, at the gym, walking, running or just getting through the daily demands of your life. Learn about pelvic health issues (that are common, but not normal!) such as diastasis recti and incontinence. Learn what poses are helpful or not helpful and why. Build a foundation of healthy posture, natural breathing & useful movement and connect deeply to your own strength.

This workshop is open to all postpartum mamas who have been cleared by their healthcare providers to start activity (6 to 8 weeks and beyond, including if you had your baby years ago!) Babies are welcome.

Evolving Conversations about Sex

February 23, 2018

How to create greater intimacy in your sex life with yoga & pelvic health

Your sexual health is front and centre to your pelvic health. And yet, we don’t talk about it. Maybe with friends. Maybe with our partners. It’s time to evolve our conversations about sex.

Our society has all kinds of unhelpful messages around how we should feel about our bodies, about how we should look, about how we should behave in and out of the bedroom.

Our ideas about how our bodies look change as we age, as we go through stages of adulthood as men and women, particularly for women through pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause.

The truth is that there is so much more to our pelvic health, our sexual health, than what we learn from our society.

Intimacy. It’s what we all yearn for. Regardless of what your relationship looks like. We yearn to have deeper, meaningful connections to others. And that begins with ourselves.

Join me and my special guest Renee Quiring, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, for an evening workshop of open, safe, important conversation, insight and movement.

Feedback from event:

"I really identified with [the personal story shared] and it helped me identify my own story."

"[I'm inspired to think] about how to converse with my kid and learning about resources."

"[I realized that] it's okay to take time to figure out what I'm feeling and identify what's contributing to anxieties about sex."

"The yoga felt so good!"

"[My biggest takeaway was] learning about stories we tell ourselves, and the brain part of sex and pleasure."

"[I'm most inspired to] understand what I know/feel about my body."

"I most enjoyed the yoga and isolating/understanding different muscles."

"[I'm inspired to] have positive discussions with my daughter about sex and sexual empowerment."

"Thank you for sharing your experience, being vulnerable and open."

"[I see the] need for more conversation with my partner and self-reflection."

"Very informative!"

"[The pelvic health physiotherapist's] discussion felt particularly relevant in the scope of my life experience."
